Thames View Junior School is looking for a highly motivated teacher to be a Year Group leader. As well as this, the successful candidate will lead one of our four subject teams: Literacy & Language, STEM, Humanities or Well-Being & Creative Arts.

This post would be suitable for a Main Scale teacher or someone on Upper Pay Scale.

Job Title: HLTA – Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Pay Scale: Scale 5 – £27,807.00 (FTE), £23,903.00 (Pro-Rata)

Hours: 8:15-4:15- Monday- Friday, Term time.

 

Thames View Junior School is looking to appoint an engaging HLTA. In this role you will be able to work with pupils, families and staff to support the successful integration of EAL & PP students into Thames View Junior School. To be responsible for the achievement and progress of pupils for whom English is an additional language. NVQ level 3 or equivalent expected.

Job Description


LSA – Learning Support Assistant.

 

Location: Thames View Junior School.

Job title: Learning Support Assistant & Midday Supervisor.

Salary: Scale 4 Inner London allowance.

Contract type: Permanent

Reporting to: SENDCo

Job Purpose 

The postholder will be responsible for supporting children with their learning, including those with special educational needs under the direction and guidance of class teachers and the SENDCo and to provide for their social, educational and welfare needs within the school.  They will also have a Midday supervisor responsibility; in accordance with Children, Family and Adult Services Job Profile and as a member of a team led by the Senior Midday Supervisor under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, to be responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of pupils during the midday break

 

Qualifications and Training

NVQ level 2/ equivalent qualification/ currently studying NVQ level 2.

Experience

  • Experience of working with children under the age of 11 in an educational setting
  • Experience of supporting children with a range of special educational needs
  • Experience of communicating with a wide range of people from different backgrounds
  • Experience of record keeping

 

Knowledge, and Understanding

  • NVQ level 2/ equivalent qualification/ currently studying NVQ level 2.
  • Understanding of the educational welfare and social needs of children
  • Working knowledge of implementing Individual Provision Plans
  • Basic knowledge of ICT to effectively support the pupils (or willingness to train)
  • Understanding of the issues around safeguarding and behaviour in a school setting
  • A knowledge of some of the emotional, behavioural and social difficulties that may create added barriers to learning
