School Council in our school
The Student Voice team oversee the running of our School Council.
The Sydney Russell School is proud of its school council and wish to see it gain in significance in terms of decision-making and running of our school.
Mrs Russell is the member of staff in charge of our school council. She is supported in her role by Mr Sullivan. Together they oversee the publicity, instruction, membership and minutes of the various school council meetings.
At the start of the school year all forms are encouraged to elect two form representatives (preferably one female/one male). Year Council meetings are held on a half-termly basis.
They are run by Senior Students/members of the student SLT and 6th form committee members.
Minutes are sent to forms for discussion by ppt. slides. They are meant to inform tutor-time discussions as well as the following council meetings.
We plan to create a self-sustaining school council that expresses the issues students see as significant on an on-going basis.
We are proud that our 16+/6th Form Committee is prepared to work with student council meetings throughout the school. This integration is set to be maintained and developed in the coming years.
