2nd March 2021
Dear Parents & Carers,
Re – Returning to School on March 8th 2021
We are absolutely delighted that we are once again able to welcome all of our pupils back to school from 8th March. Staggered start and finish times will still be in place, however there are some slight changes for year 4 & 5.
In order to ensure the safety of your child and our school community, it is essential that you drop off and collect at the times you are given. We would really appreciate your support with this.
Entrances and exits will be clearly signed, and members of the senior leader team will be on duty to help with any queries.
Year Group | Start Time | Finish Time | Gate |
3 | 8:45 am | 3:00 pm | Yr 3/Car Park Gate |
4 | 9:00 am | 3:15 pm | Year 6 Gate |
5 | 8:45 am | 3:00 pm | Year 6 Gate |
6 | 9:00 am | 3:15 pm | Yr 3/Car Park Gate |
Understandably, parents and carers are bound to have lots of questions about the re-opening of school and I would like to take the opportunity of addressing these.
What happens if my child has symptoms of coronavirus?
If your child has any symptoms of coronavirus, it is essential that you do not send them to school and notify us as soon as possible. The NHS advises that the main symptoms of coronavirus are as follows:
Tests are now available for everyone and you should book a test immediately. In the event that the test is positive, you must let us know straight away.
Does my child have to wear school uniform?
Yes. All children should return to school in full school uniform. As ever, please ensure that this is clearly labelled with your child’s name. Children will now be expected to wear uniform every day. Please remember trainers are NOT part of the uniform at TVJ, children must come to school wearing black shoes. They are able to bring a change of footwear for the daily mile and PE.
Please click here for more information about the school uniform on our website.
Lost property will be stored in the lost property area during the week to allow for children to come and find any lost items. Each Friday there will then be a clothes bank for Parents and Carers to take any unclaimed items as they wish ay 2:50pm.
Can I come into the school?
You may drop off and collect your child at their gate. However, please note that we will not be accepting any visitors in to school without an appointment arranged by the school office. We would ask that you follow social distancing guidelines when you drop off and collect your child and not to congregate in groups by the playground. Only one parent or carer may drop off or collect their child.
Is my child allowed to bring anything to school from home?
The guidance has now been relaxed somewhat. Your child can bring their book bag to school with their reading book. Your child should also bring a named water bottle. Lunch boxes are allowed. Your child should also bring their named PE kit to school.
Children cannot bring in their own pencil cases or stationary. Each child will be given an allocated stationary pack which they will not share with anyone else at school.
What are you doing about hand washing?
The children will sanitise their hands on entering the school. They will continue to wash their hands at regular intervals throughout the day and before they eat. Please remind them about the importance of washing their hands thoroughly and also that they should cough or sneeze into a tissue or their elbow.
Can my child wear a face covering in school?
No. They can of course wear them to travel to school but they must be removed at the school gate and given to a parent/carer.
Will you be serving school dinners?
Yes, hot and cold options will be available, and the children will be eating in the hall.
Will you be having Breakfast club?
Yes, this will be up and running again. It will be a reduced service. In order to attend Breakfast club, you will need to book your child in using ParentMail. Further information about booking clubs will be sent out by the end of this week.
Will you be running after school clubs?
Yes, clubs will be running. They will not start until the week beginning 22nd March and you must book your child into a club using ParentMail. All clubs will be run in year group bubbles. Further information about booking clubs will be sent out next week.
Are you going to have assemblies?
No, assemblies will be class-based or, in the case of a whole-school assembly, carried out remotely.
Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact the school office on 0204 511 9240 or email on info65.301@bdcs.org.uk.
Yours Sincerely
Mrs Rachel Anthony
Headteacher
