We are pleased to announce that Thames View Junior will be taking part in Wear Red Day on Friday 17 October, in support of the Show Racism the Red Card campaign. Inclusive Employers+2USDAW+2
This is a national day of action with the aim of raising awareness, showing solidarity against racism and promoting the message that racism has no place in our school or community. Inclusive Employers+2Show Racism the Red Card+2
Here’s how your child can take part:
On Friday 17 October, we are inviting all pupils and staff to wear something red (this could be a red top, accessory, or full outfit) instead of the normal school uniform.
We would welcome a voluntary contribution of £1 (or more if you wish) to support the work of Show Racism the Red Card. Funds raised will help provide anti-racism education workshops and resources for young people. Show Racism the Red Card+2Inclusive Employers+2
Donations can be made via the Payments tab in the MCAS (MyChildAtSchool) app, or you may send cash into school. We will have staff at the gates to collect donations on the morning.
During the day, pupils will take part in age-appropriate activities in class to explore what racism is, how it affects people, and how we can all act to challenge it.
We may also hold a photo opportunity or school-wide “show your red” moment to celebrate everyone’s participation.
Your support is vital — by joining in, children help send a strong message that our school community values inclusion, respect and equality.
