Admissions and Attendance

Parent/carers who are applying for a position at the school please apply via the local authority through the following link.
Local Authority Admissions Procedure

Parents will be informed by the local authority that their child has been allocated a place at Thames View Junior School.

Parents will then be invited for an admissions interview to be held at the school by booking an appointment with the Attendance Officer (Miss Khanum). The purpose of the interview is to welcome families and children to the school and to exchange important information.

Parents and children will be given a start date and given the information to purchase a school uniform. An MCAS (MyChildAtSchool) account will be set up to enable easy communications and bookings of trips/ clubs.
The child/family will be shown around the school and where possible, see their class and teacher.

On admissions day; the pupil will be met by the Attendance Officer in order to allow for a smooth transition.

The parents will be informed of progress of the child as appropriate.

At Thames View Junior School we believe that attendance and punctuality are key in ensuring children make rapid and sustained progress.

We work with families to aim for all pupils to have attendance above 97%. Our attendance officer in Partnership Learning, Ann Colloff, advises on attendance management issues working closely with Miss Khanum and takes referrals on pupils who attend irregularly.

In situations where parents fail to ensure regular school attendance, the Local Authority Access and Attendance Team will consider issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice – £80 payable within 21 days, rising to £160 payable within 22-28 days. Non-payment will result in prosecution.
