ADMISSIONS, ATTENDANCE AND EXCLUSION ARRANGEMENTS

All school policies can be printed at no additional cost. Please contact our school office if you require a document.

Admissions and Attendance

Parent/carers who are applying for a position at the school please apply via the local authority through the following link.
Local Authority Admissions Procedure

Parents will be informed by the local authority that their child has been allocated a place at Thames View Junior School.

Parents will then be invited for an admissions interview to be held at the school by booking an appointment with the Access & Attendance Officer (Miss Khanum). The purpose of the interview is to welcome families and children to the school and to exchange important information.

Parents and children will be given a start date and given the information to purchase a school uniform. A parent pay account will be set up to enable easy payment for school dinners.
The child/family will be shown around the school and where possible, see their class and teacher.

On admissions day; the pupil will be met by the Access & Attendance Officer  in order to allow for a smooth transition.

The parents will be informed of progress of the child as appropriate.

At Thames View Junior School we believe that attendance and punctuality are key in ensuring children make rapid and sustained progress.

We work with families to aim for all pupils to have attendance above 97%. Our attendance officer in Partnership Learning, Anne Colloff, advises on attendance management issues working closely with Miss Khanum and takes referrals on pupils who attend irregularly.

In situations where parents fail to ensure regular school attendance, the Access and Attendance Team will consider issuing a Fixed Penalty Notice – £80 payable within 21 days, rising to £160 payable within 22-28 days. Non-payment will result in prosecution.

REPORTING ABSENCE

If your child is going to be absent please call school on 0204 511 9240 or report on the ParentMail app before 8.40am.

When reporting a child’s absence via phone call please include:

Child’s name

Class

Reason for absence

If your child is going to have a planned absence (appointments etc..) please bring in proof of appointment to Miss Khanum in advance. If you do no show proof of appointment your child’s absence will not be authorised.
